The web platform is moving fast, yet there are older and newer features that we might not have taken for a test drive.

In this talk we will go for a tour of a bunch of lesser-known or new features that can make our lives easier. We will (re-)visit:

— Web Workers to allow parallel work without blocking the UI thread — Streams API to give us the possibility to use data as it becomes available, rather than having to wait until the transfer completes — WebAssembly to give us a compile target to work with when we need fast execution of highly optimised bytecode

We will leave with a handful of approaches for performance improvements in our web applications.
